ERIC TOBIN is a highly regarded and heavily collected landscape painter from Vermont. His 'plein air' paintings (en plein air: done on location) capture the beauty of the moment, the light, and the setting. All of his work is painted outdoors, regardless of time of year, difficult setting, or rapidly changing conditions. Upon viewing his artwork many people experience the feeling they would have if they were present at the time of its creation.
"I strive to paint the feeling of a place and particularly like painting in the winter, spring and fall."
Eric Tobin has been painting and drawing since childhood. Thomas Curtin, a well-known landscape artist from Cambridge, Vermont, influenced him by giving him his first set of paints at the age of twelve. Eric remembers standing beside his mentor for hours watching him paint.
As an adult Eric admired the work of many regional landscape artists. He has painted with well-known New England Landscape painter Charles Movalli of Gloucester, Massachusetts, as well as Fred Hines, a good friend and mentor from Johnson, Vermont. Eric Tobin's work has been shown by many New England galleries and is in private and corporate collections across the country and abroad. He has participated in many prestigious shows and exhibits and has won numerous awards for his work. The Gallery at Village Frame Shoppe is proud to bring you this collection of fine art by Vermont artist Eric Tobin.
