Sweeten your palette for a Sappy Art Show!

Thank you for your interest in this year’s Sappy Art Show. This exhibit has become a favorite for Vermont artists, but this year it is even sweeter! The Vermont Maple Festival Committee has decided to make the Sappy Art Show an official part of the Vermont Maple Festival. Due to this decision, cash prizes will be awarded in several categories as well as overall best of show. We hope you will consider submitting your artwork to this year’s exhibit!

Sappy Art Show Submission Guidelines
This exhibit is open to Vermont artists working in any 2 dimensional or 3 dimensional media. For inclusion in this exhibit, your work must reflect this year’s theme: “Vermont Maple - A Sweet History”. Cash prizes will be awarded for Best of Show, as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each of the following categories:
Using Maple Syrup
Cash Prizes
Overall Best of Show: $100
1st (Awarded in each category): $50
2nd (Awarded in each category): $30
3rd (Awarded in each category): $20
Submission Limits
You may submit only one piece of artwork per category, with a maximum of 4 pieces.
All artwork must be framed and wired, ready to hang.
(Sawtooth hooks and clip hangers are not acceptable.)
Entry labels must be attached to the back of your frame in the upper left corner.
You must pre-register each piece of artwork online by April 12, 2020. 
Your entry labels and inventory sheet will be emailed to you upon completion of your online registration.
The inventory sheet must be signed and delivered to the gallery along with your artwork on one of the drop-off dates.

All artwork must be delivered to Village Frame Shoppe on April 16, 17 or 18 between 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Hanging and Jurying
Artwork will be hung and juried on April 20.
Artist Reception
Artists are invited to attend an artist reception on April 25, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Bring your family and friends!
The gallery will retain a 40% commission on all artwork sold during this exhibit.

The exhibit will hang through May 21, 2020.
All artwork must be picked up by 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22
or by 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23.

Artwork must be delivered to Village Frame Shoppe between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
April 25 - Artist Reception
Artists are invited to attend an artist reception on April 25, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Vermont Maple Festival.

May 22 or 23
Artwork must be picked up on May 22 or 23 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The Small Print
While it is our desire to include all artwork submitted to this exhibit, we reserve the right to refuse any work that does not meet these guidelines. This includes artwork that is not properly prepared for hanging or display, artwork that is submitted past the deadline, and artwork that does not fit any of the exhibit’s categories. It is in your best interest to follow these submission guidelines as you prepare your artwork for exhibit.
While all due care will be taken with the artist’s work, neither the Village Frame Shoppe & Gallery nor the Vermont Maple Festival assumes any liability for loss or damage that may occur. Artists are encouraged to provide their own insurance on artwork. All artwork submitted to this competition remains the sole property of the artist. By entering this exhibit, you agree that the Vermont Maple Festival, Inc. Board of Trustees and Village Frame Shoppe has the right to use your entry in its publications, educational programs, and publicity efforts without requiring additional compensation. Submission of artwork constitutes your acceptance of all terms listed here.
